A note from Your Second Grade Teachers

Some friendly daily reminders:

  • Parents, please read and sign agenda daily. Also, sign Behavior chart if there is a note on the back of the calendar.
  • Scholars read 20 minutes daily, record in Reading Log, parents initial daily. Students can earn up to 10pts weekly towards their Reading grade.
  • If your scholar is going to be absent from school, please email absence@greatheartswesternhills.org . Also, if you have a doctor's note or a written excuse, please send that in or email the teacher and attendance office too.

This week in Spalding, we are working on 30 words and studying phonograms!

Singapore Math

This week Scholars will start adding 3 digit numbers. They will continue to learn their math facts in Rocket Math  and solve 3 digit word problems.
                        
Literature

In Literature this week we are continuing our read in Sarah, Plain and Tall. We are also reviewing and reciting The Seashell poem in class Tuesday and Wednesday.

                Poetry / Sayings

   In Poetry, we are reviewing and reciting "The Seashell" poem in class Tuesday and Wednesday.

*Please have your scholar practice at home! Your scholar will recite either September 13th or 14th.


 Introduce saying, “Where there is a will, there is a way.” 


               Grammar/ Writing

This week in grammar, we are reviewing proper nouns and learning about different types of verbs!

                          History


History- This week scholars are continuing to explore Ancient China. Scholars will learn about the Teachings of Confucious, and the Great Wall of China.


                    Science 

Science will continue our exploration of land and water with a unit that covers weathering, erosion, and deposition. We will have a Spartan Lab (experiment) on Thursday to find out how we can protect important monuments.
