~The Winter Concert is this Friday, December 2nd. Your scholar came home with a letter from Ms. Burciaga with the necessary information.

What We Are Learning in Quarter 2, Week 6 

Spalding: 

This week in Spalding, we are working on 29 words and studying phonograms!

Math:

This week, we continue to learn about bar models through addition and subtraction word problems.

Literature:

This week, we are starting our newest book, Little House in the Big Woods, by Laura Ingalls Wilder. Please have your scholar bring their copy to class.

Poetry / Sayings:

This week we are introducing “Windy Nights “by Robert Louis Stevenson.

Please have your scholar practice at home! We are reciting December 25th & 16th.  

Saying:

Grammar/ Writing:

This week in grammar and writing, we are continuing to learn how to write an informative paper. This will help as we begin to prepare for our Independent Study Project!

History / Science: 

This week in History, we are continuing our studies of Ancient Greece, looking at Art! 

In Science, we are studying magnets and magnetic force.

The Virtue of the Month:

November: Honesty

We never willingly induce another to believe what is false. We are always truthful in what we say and do, regardless of the outcome of the circumstances or consequences.

Always Speak the Truth.

December: Courage

We always do what we know to be right despite fear, hardship, and opposition. We resist negative peer pressure, defend our rights and the rights of others, and encourage others to do the same.

Overcome Struggle with Heart.

• Parents, please read and sign the agenda daily. Also, mark the Behavior chart if there is a note on the back of the calendar.
• Scholars read 20 minutes daily, record in Reading Log, and parents initial daily. Students can earn up to 10pts weekly towards their Reading grade.
• If your scholar is going to be absent from school, please email attendance@greatheartswesternhills.org. Also, if you have a doctor's note or a written excuse, please send that in or email the teacher and attendance office.
